GaryWC President's Message

Hello All Seasons

First of all let me say CONGRATULATIONS, CONGRATULATIONS, to Ron Cole and my good friend and All Seasons own Rebecca Hunter on their nuptials on Saturday April 26th in Oakland. It was a very nice ceremony with the reception at a very familiar place. The couple jetted off to St Croix for the Honeymoon and I wish them all the best.

ELECTIONS, ELECTIONS, ELECTIONS
Yes another year has passed and it’s time to come out and vote, show support or throw your hat in the ring to be a leader in your club. All Seasons elected positions are one year terms. If you would like to run for a position you need to be a member for one year and in good standing with the club, mostly that means your dues are paid up. Remember any paid member from last year is eligible to vote in this election although dues are due as of April 30th, 2008.

As the weather heats up its time to dust off the bicycles and running shoes, its time to get ready for a great summer “Bay Area” style. Let’s start it off with the Bay to Breakers, let’s get the Oakland Yellowjackets back where they belong. Let’s do local hiking and Yosemite Camping with Alfred Watts. How about a Jazz Concert under the stars, in other words………..let’s get our butts outside.

FATHER’S DAY AT THE RACES
We will be at Golden Gates Fields to eat, drink and bet the ponies in any order you like. We have a limited number of tickets available with all meals included. If you want to do the whole day at the track, get there early and have breakfast, the first races start at 11:00 am. They will then break down the first meal and set up for lunch. I’ll tell you what, there are not many things more exciting than placing a wager, seeing your horse making the turn, coming down the stretch and crossing the finish. Win, Place or Show, we will be there. Contact Thomas Shipp for info or details.

SUMMER CARNIVAL
Don’t miss out on summer fun in the sun as we take over the resort in LaQuinta, Ca. Pool games, Golf, Theme parties, Tennis, Room hop and never ending Margaritas. See your All Seasons trip leader for details and to place a deposit.

STEPPIN’ OUT WITH ALL SEASONS MEN & WOMEN
Come to the May 7th General meeting and see the fellow members show off their moves. We are nearing the end of our accelerated group lessons and let me tell you something “we ain’t that bad” We are getting our minds and body’s working as one as we gain confidence and put together various combinations of the dance.

Gary Garrett,
President

General Meeting Theme - Cinco de Mayo
Activities for this month's meeting is 2008-2009 General Elections and Grand Finale Steppers Night.

April’s ASSC Meet & Greet Meet & Greet
By: Phyllis Lohar-Singh
April’s Meet and Greet was as much a delight as it was a surprise. It was enlightening to the treasures in the Bay Area and the amazing people that live here. Today, we tasted libations at Rosenblum Winery and Hanger One Distillery located on the abandoned military base in Alameda.

We started with light snacks on the deck of Rosenblum Winery before stopping by the quaint tasting bar where we were served a wonderful array of wines. We sampled a variety of Riesling, Chardonnay and Chateau la Paws, a delightful Zinfandel, that contributes a portion of its profits to animal rescue efforts.

Hanger One Distillery was lively and buzzing with energy. Our party had grown to 8 as we stepped up to the bar with a force. We chatted and got better acquainted over brandies, vodkas, and Qi White Tea Liqueur, which got “Thumbs Up” by the group as the best of the day.

Now a party of 12, we finish the day with an early dinner at La Piñata Mexican Restaurant on Park Blvd. The combination of good company and food, lively conversation, locally distilled spirits, and great Bay Area weather make a perfect Bay Area Saturday. A toast to Ava Harper, (ASSC membership renewal), Rebba Middleton, Benicia Cato, Meveta Montgomery, Angela Crossley, Amber Wilson, Barbara Williams, D'Juna Magee-Morgan, Willie Garner, Alfred Watts, Patsy Cunningham, and Phyllis Lohar-Singh for a cool Saturday afternoon.
