President's Message
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL SEASONS!!

Our own Elite downhill racer has done it again; after finishing 6th in the Telluride Skiercross Errol has been invited to travel to France with Tyler Shepherd, U.S. Skiercross coach and other members of the U.S. Skiercross team to compete in the World Cup Skiercross this month. Errol has also qualified for the X Games and the Deer Valley, Utah Skiercross World cup. This is extremely special because in 2010 the Skiercross will become an Olympic event and Errol with his speed, ability and unwavering desire to go faster and jump higher has an excellent chance of landing on the Olympic ski team and medaling in this event. Take a look at Errol in Action Downhill

Phillip Bells Birthday Bash
I know you were there because everyone was there and the “joint was jumpin”. Phillip packed the house, both sides of the Marriott Ballroom open and two dance floors rockin’. He outdid himself this year, we had a ball, can’t wait till the next one.

The Prez’z Retirement
Let’s face it when you work 10 days a month retirement really doesn’t feel that different. I’m so busy now, I don’t know how I had time to go to work. Like the retirees say “I’ve been training for this for the past 30 years” All I have to do now is find something to do every third day”

WINTER CARNIVAL ’07 HEAVENLY SKI RESORT LAKE TAHOE
We are still going so let’s get that registration in hand before you miss out. Come on’ bring family and friends to this great event that runs the Region, provides funds and showcases our youth.
FIRE SAFETY MESSAGES OF THE MONTH:
Put fireplace ashes in Metal Cans // Be a courteous and safe holiday driver

New Year's Resolutions

Resolutions Happy New Year and along with that comes the tradition of making resolutions. Yes, New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments normally go into effect on New Year's Day and remain until the set goal has been achieved. More socio-centric examples include resolutions to donate to the poor more often, to become more assertive, or to become more economically or environmentally responsible. The new year resolution is one example of the rolling forecast-method of planning. According to this method, plans are established at regular short or medium-term time intervals, when only a rough long-term plan exists.

Tips for Making Good New Year's Resolutions

There is a right way and a wrong way to make a New Year's resolution. Here are a few expert tips to see that your resolution actually makes a difference:

1. Create a Plan
Setting a goal without formulating a plan is merely wishful thinking. In order for your resolution to have resolve, (as the word "resolution" implies), it must translate into clear steps that can be put into action. A good plan will tell you A) What to do next and B) What are all of the steps required to complete the goal.

2. Create Your Plan IMMEDIATELY
If you're like most people, then you'll have a limited window of opportunity during the first few days of January to harness your motivation. After that, most people forget their resolutions completely.
It is imperative that you begin creating your plan immediately.

3. Write Down Your Resolution and Plan
MyGoals.com exists to help you formulate a plan, which we then help you stick to. But even if you don't use myGoals.com, commit your resolution and plan to writing someplace, such as a notebook or journal.

4. Think "Year Round," Not Just New Year's
Nothing big gets accomplished in one day. Resolutions are set in one day, but accomplished with a hundred tiny steps that happen throughout the year. New Year's resolutions should be nothing more than a starting point. You must develop a ritual or habit for revisiting your plan. myGoals.com helps you stick to your plan by providing email reminders that arrive when it's time to work on a given task.

And finally...

5. Remain Flexible
Expect that your plan can and will change. Life has a funny way of throwing unexpected things at us, and flexibility is required to complete anything but the simplest goal. Sometimes the goal itself will even change. Most of all, recognize partial successes at every step along the way. Just as a resolution isn't accomplished the day it's stated, neither is it accomplished the day you reach your goal. Rather, it's accomplished in many small increments along the way. Acknowledge these incremental successes as they come.
