July 2011 Newsletter

Hello All Seasons,

First of all I want to congratulate Zeffie Bruce of Fire & Ice Ski Club, the Western Regions new Regional V.P. Zeffie ran and won in a special election for the open position. Since Zeffie took over as President of Fire & Ice a few years ago she has put together a dedicated board and her club has become more active in the NBS and in their community. I'm positive she will bring the Western Region back to glory.

ASSC Annual Golf Gathering-Oakland
I want to thank Ricardo Thomas and his team for putting together the golf tournament a few weeks ago,  the weather was good and we had a great time. I was my usual stellar self out on the links but the handicap system always seems to reward those with lesser skills, so alas, I came home empty handed once again. Past President and avid golfer Mr. Thomas Shipp won the grand prize drawing of a 42” plasma TV, even though his golf skills leave something to be desired, (aka the foot wedge).

Winter Carnival 2012 Whistler/Blackcomb, Canada
Get your passports ready, its reunion time All Seasons! We are headed back up north and the excitement is in the air. The last time we were there All Seasons brought over 110 participants. Don't be left out, people are already calling their friends, setting alliances and pulling together their old crews. The scenery, the village, the mountain, always tops in every ski and apres' ski category. Call Karen and get your deposits in. Oh Canada!

Summit 2012 Sun Valley, Idaho
It just keeps getting better, the NBS is headed back to Sun Valley after 14 years. A beautiful place to see and a great mountain to ski. Who can forget the farewell night Fashion show and Pajama Party. For me, someone that was lucky enough to be in the show and backstage with the models, let me tell you, I still get a smile on my face, ahh the memories.

Youth News
We have a new skier, his name is Taariq Saffouri, he skis multiple disciplines but his passion as of now is in Freestyle. We will focus more on this young athlete next month.

The Fire & Ice Annual Beach Party will be on July 23rd at New Brighton Beach in Capitola. This is a fun relaxing day in the sand, lets get our people together and show our support.

BBQ meeting in the Park
Remember our next meeting will be Wednesday July 6th at Dimond Park in Oakland. I will be there at 4:30 pm. Food should be ready by 6:00 but the fresh fruit Sangria will be available upon my arrival. Members bring the side dishes.

Fire messages of the month:
Fireworks are Dangerous // Think water safety, teach your kids to swim
